A lot of the things that happen in the Harry Potter film can be related to the world of business. From personal experience, one of the biggest things i’ve taken away is just not to give up.
Harry shows resilience and grit in the face of impending doom. He inspires us by fighting the good fight and never giving up. Sure, he fucks up something and yes, he isn’t perfect, but guess what, he’s human, just like the rest of us!
We live in a world that’s almost psychedelic in terms of what we can achieve. We can fly around the entire globe in a few hours. We can contact people from anywhere within seconds and we can drive vehicles without a human being sitting behind the wheel.
The best part?
We can create passive income streams and live out our lives however we please. The internet is bursting with passive income ideas for us to build profitable businesses. There world has really been made flat again when you consider the sheer volume of free information available to almost all of us. It now becomes a case of sacrificing time or money to learn and implement these strategies to achieve a type of freedom most people only ever dream of.
Bringing things back to Harry Potter, here are three ways Harry inspires me to push myself in the world of business:
He keeps his cool (most of the time)
Let’s take things back to the first two films that came out, when Harry was chilling in the cupboard under the stairs. The Durselys treated Harry like a piece of poo on their shoe. A second-class citizen of the most obvious kind in that household. Despite this disgusting treatment, Harry kept his cool and did what he had to do to get by. He displayed his fighting spririt for the very first film, when all the way to the deathly hallows.
He became a leader
Remember dumbledore’s army?
Harry, Hermione and Ron set this up to protect their fellow classmates and prepare for a fight. Harry displayed fantastic leadership skills during this process that we can all relate to starting a business. He got people together and taught them powerful spells so they could defend themsleves when it came to fighting the deatheaters.
During the final fight on the second part of the deathly hallows he displayed courage, braving and an insane degree of mental toughness.
Being a leader is all about overcoming your personal obstacles and calling yourself out on your own nonsense. It’s a great inner battlew that never ends. In holding yourself accountable in this way, you lead by example and show others how it’s meant to be done.
He showed impossible courage and bravery
Courage and bravery are two of the most important personality traits when it comes to venturing out into the world of business. Without courage, the journey won’t even begin. You’ll stay stuck in that comfortable cocooned safety zone that you’ve created for yourself. Courage is the ability to push yourself into things despite the nagging fears, reservations and uncertainties. It’s taking that leap into the unknown and figuring shit out on the way down.
In the business world, uncertainty is rife, especially when first starting out. There are a million excuses we could use to not do something. Our brains have this incredible ability to rationalise almost anything. The exucses will always be there, but you must ask yourself, what end result do I want?
Do I want to achieve this thing more than I want to take the easy option. If the answer is yes then you know what you need to do.
Harry potter has taught us some valuable lessons about life. He taught us that courage, bravery and grit can take you very far. He taught us that we shouldn’t be doing things all by ourselves. Many of us have this tendency to go it alone. We feel like we need to do everything ourselvesin order to succeed. But this couldn’t be further from the truth, it’s okay to ask for help, it’s okay to struggle sometimes and it’s okay to fall flat on your face.
I guess what i’m trying to say here is that you should go for your dreams no matter what your circumstances maybe. Don’t quit your job and put yourself in abad situation. But really think about your purpose here on this planet earth. What do you really want to do? What do you want to be remembered for? These are the questions you should be asking yourself time and time again.
